More than 1,000 animal species with backbones (terrestial
vertebrates) are found in Philippine forests. Some of these animals such as the Visayan warty pig and the Philippine
eagle, are endemic to the Philippines, which means they can found only in this country; and some of these animals are critically
endangered species. Forest conservation is needed in order to ensure the survival of these species.
