the Philippines. One of these shells is the highly-prized "glory of the sea," which is shown above (fourth stamp, extreme
right).

The national dress for women in
the Philippines is the baro't saya. However, there are many traditional clothes for Filipino women as shown on the 3 stamps
which commemorates the centenary of the Universal Postal Union.

FOREST CONSERVATION
Forest conservation and
management in the Philippines is at a critical stage. Only remnants of the total forest area during the early 1900's
remain. In order to protect the forest (and the wildlife environment), some parts of the country have been declared as protected
areas. The forest is home to thousands of plant and animal species. Some of these living organisms can be found only in the
Philippines.

flag carrier of the Philippines, and it is the only Filipino airline which has regular international flights to various parts
of the world.

The theme of the World Health Day
issue of 1976 was: "Foresight prevents blindness" and the image of Jose Rizal --- national hero of the Philippines ---
was utilized. Rizal was , in fact, an eye surgeon.
